Basic Employment Requirement

  • Hold a current New York State Basic or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certification.
  • Hold a current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation ("CPR") certification.
  • Be at least 20 years of age
  • Be in good health and physical condition
  • Hold a current driver's license with an acceptable driving record

How to Find an EMT Class

If you are interested in becoming certified as an EMT, there are classes throughout Tompkins County that begin at various times of the year. You can contact the Tompkins County EMS Coordinator at the Tompkins County Emergency Response Center on Brown Road at (607) 257-3888.
